Trailblazer

It is a lonely and dusty place, the frontier. wild buffalo roam the wastes in search of a pasture to feed their thinning herd, a lizard climbs atop a nearby rock to warm itself - unaware that its new heat source was placed there on purpose, the grave of a long-forgotten cowboy. But the cowboys, outlaws, and natives are far from the most dangerous things here. Animals are dying and changing, crops won't grow, and there's whispers of the dead walking the plains, hunting the living.

One man's quest for revenge is halted when he finds himself at odds with dark forces, sinister cults, and long-forgotten gods.

Trailblazer is a Turn-Based RPG that draws inspiration from Dragon Quest XI and Wild ARMs. It features a host of characters and a deeply customizable Skill Tree system that allows you to play the game the way you most enjoy.

The game is currently, and always will be Free. Trailblazer's goal is to show that even if you don't have a budget for custom assets, you can still make something that people will enjoy by putting the focus on the story and the gameplay. By making each character feel unique, and by keeping the mechanics simple, but their application deep, Trailblazer aims to deliver a fun experience for anyone who likes JRPGs, regardless of what draws you to them.

A Demo of Trailblazer Chapter 1: The Dead Walk on Deadwood is currently available for download! The Demo includes:

It should also be noted that this game, while fictional, takes place during a real period of American history, and as such, may reference norms of the time. This may include mentioning the mistreatment of minorities common to the era such as: references to slavery, the plights against indigenous people, or the erasure of Asian immigrants. The narrative purpose is to empower minority characters, not to take cheap shots for shock value. I have worked closely with members of these affected communities while drafting the story to ensure that their portrayal is done in an accurate and respectful manner.
